Response to The Age of Romanticism

The Romantic Era of Literature began at a volatile time during Britain's history leading all the way up to the French Revolution. The political and societal changes leading up the war greatly influenced the Romantic Era due to prominent authors's involvement.

Though the women authors pf this time period played a dramatic role in the Romantic period they were given very little credit by society outside of the literary world. Even though they were acknowledged by the dominant male authors of the time. The women authors of the time, such as Mary Wollstonecraft, Mary Robinson, and Charlotte Smith had written wonderful and outspoken works on art covering a multitude of topics such as slavery, education, and the advancement of the woman's role in society. Though these works would change the way society viewed women and those of a lower class, the changes would not begin until long after they had passed away.

This shows us that despite the tremendous role women have played in history and the dramatic impact they had, their contribution changed the world with very little credit given to them in their lifetime.
